Last weekend, as part of one of our Weekend Activity (WEA) choices, our Art and Outreach Committees teamed up to help dogs in need find their forever homes! Students used their artistic talents to create beautiful drawings of adoptable dogs from @pawsnewengland focusing on those who needed extra attention. Each student selected a dog they felt a connection to, capturing their likeness in hopes of boosting visibility and encouraging adoption. The artwork is also being shared on Paws New England’s social media to help these amazing dogs find loving families. The Eaglebrook Hilly Chase Speaker Series hosted ornithologist, illustrator, and author David Sibley on Wednesday evening. During his talk, David shared his insights with the students, likening drawing to a "brain skill." He explained, "Every sketch is practice for the next one, and repetition is how you learn about your subject." David credited his strong memory for identifying various bird species to his habit of drawing the birds he observes. After the talk, students had the opportunity to interview David, and a podcast of the conversation will be forthcoming.
