🏆Our 30 on 30 celebration continues with Kristen Mercado! 💗Kristen has been an integral part of Project Morry’s focus on mental health and social emotional wellness, and what better month to honor Kristen than in May, which is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth! From Executive Director Dawn Ewing: 💡 “Kristen Mercado, began her journey with Project Morry as our summer office manager in 2002 and what an incredible journey it has been. It was the first camp season post 9/11 and the world still felt very scary. And there was Kristen, answering the phones every day. It was an overwhelming summer for many of us, and Kristen listened to us all. 💡Twenty-three years later, Kristen is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, owns her own private practice and has become an expert in treating trauma and anxiety. Kristen has also returned to Project Morry, bringing her training and expertise to Morry’s Camp in a more formal mental health role as our Social Emotional Wellness coach. She brought all her trauma-informed practices to camp and piloted a sensory regulation program to not only a dedicated location, the Sensory Shack, but to an area in each living space at camp. 💡Kristen is magic. Her ability to be present, to hear, to validate and to show up for our young people, our staff and our families is without equal. She makes you feel safe and a part with her smile, her humor, her care, her love. 💡Kristen will tell you that Project Morry has always addressed mental health.
