PSA: We lend traps for free and we always have. It’s an important part of what we do. We know that traps are expensive and people may be hesitant to buy one for a temporary need. We believe that requiring deposits for trap loans can scare away people who need help, so the cats don’t get help. But we are at a loss. People are keeping our traps and not returning them when they are done trapping. We had 40 spay/neuter appointments last week and had to scramble for traps. It’s a common problem for TNR and rescue groups. But our disappointment has hit an all time high. Last week, when a caregiver left a trap out for us to pick up on East Passaic Ave in Bloomfield, it was stolen. It wasn’t on the curb for the taking. It wasn’t out there for weeks. It was set back from the road, between the house and the garage, clearly owned property, for less than 12 hours. If you took the trap, please message us to return it. We will pick it up and we won’t give you a hard time. We would loan you the trap for free. Why would you take it and prevent cats from being helped? We hope that if you don’t return it, you are at least using it to help cats, and aren’t selling it for a quick buck. We are a nonprofit and we work hard for every dollar we raise. Traps are $100 plus shipping. Please, do us the kindness of returning our property so we can help as many cats as we can. (fb)
