St Joe Valley Conservation Club

Overview

The St Joe Valley Conservation Club is a 501(c)(4) nonprofit organization that serves as a civic league and social welfare organization. It is designed to promote community welfare for charitable, educational, or recreational purposes[2].

History and Purpose

Established in 1957, the club is situated on 150 acres in rural Indiana. It is one of the largest shotgun shooting facilities in the Midwest, offering practice, league, and registered trap and skeet shooting opportunities. The club also provides instruction and safety training, opening its facilities to the public[1][5].

Activities

The club is renowned for hosting significant shooting events, notably the annual Kolar Mid-America Open in May, along with other shoots throughout the year. It features extensive shooting fields, including nine Trap Fields, ten Skeet Fields, and a large Five Stand Field, with several lighted fields available for evening shooting[1][5].

Financial Operations

As a 501(c)(4) organization, donations to the St Joe Valley Conservation Club are not tax-deductible. The club primarily generates revenue from program services, which constitute the majority of its income. Contributions and rental property income also contribute to its financial stability[2].

Governance

The club operates with a leadership structure that currently includes key officers such as a President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary. None of the key officers receive compensation for their roles[2].

Assets and Liabilities

The organization maintains a significant level of assets, with minimal liabilities reported over the years. This financial stability supports its ongoing operations and community programs[2].
