Reenvisioning Michigans Public Education System The Problem Most parents want the same thing for their kids an education that prepares them for a meaningful rewarding life with financial stability. The problem is that our education system is still preparing kids for the jobs of 50 years ago that simply dont exist today or dont provide good wages. 2 out of 3 Michigan 4th graders are already behind in core reading and math skills. Over 23 of Michigan 8th graders are behind in reading and math making it harder to catch up.
