The most in our 47 year history - from 2 bobcats to 2,388 songbirds! Last week 439 more babies arrived - and 377 the week before! We are on track to receive 1,800 wild animals this month. Not all the babies we have at our center actually need us… they have their mom for that! While we do take in a lot of orphaned babies, we also take in lots of injured adults that have their babies in tow. We currently have 4 injured adult opossums with a pouch full of babies. Whenever possible, we always aim to keep the babies with their mom, while she is healing. Not only is mom’s milk the absolute best for them, but it can also be quite stressful on mom to not have her babies with her.
