Family Well Project
Introduction
The Family Well Project is a U.S. nonprofit organization dedicated to providing access to clean and safe water in rural communities, particularly in Africa. The organization is registered with the Employer Identification Number (EIN) 932206355.
Mission
The primary mission of the Family Well Project is to address the critical issue of water scarcity and contamination in rural African communities. They aim to bring safe water to these areas by retrofitting existing shallow wells and installing simple hand pumps. This approach not only improves water quality but also reduces the time and effort required to collect water.
Activities and Partnerships
The Family Well Project partners with local communities to develop and implement innovative techniques for accessing clean water. Their strategy involves working closely with rural communities to identify suitable well locations and to train local individuals in the maintenance and operation of water systems. This hands-on approach ensures sustainability and empowers communities to manage their water resources effectively.
Impact
The organization's efforts have a significant impact on rural households, many of which currently lack access to safe water. By providing accessible clean water, the Family Well Project helps to improve health outcomes, reduce water-borne illnesses, and enhance overall quality of life for thousands of people.
Funding and Support
The Family Well Project relies on donations to fund its projects. Private support is crucial as it enables the organization to dedicate resources directly to water projects, ensuring that all donated funds contribute to tangible improvements in water access.
Techniques and Deployment
The organization typically requires minimal resources to implement their solutions, often involving just a couple of plumbers and a modest budget. This efficiency allows them to achieve significant results with relatively modest investment, making a permanent difference in the lives of rural families.

The Family Well Project Bringing clean safe water to the rural communities of Africa The Challenge Almost half of the households in Tanzania dont have access to safe water. Four out of ten households must travel an hour or more just to collect water. Thousands of open shallow wells in rural Africa often feature contaminated water and danger in access. In other areas underground water is available close to the surface but people do not know how to drill manually.
