Laredo Crime Stoppers, Inc. is a nonprofit formed by a group of concerned citizens in 1981. The Crime Stoppers concept promotes the effectiveness of the law enforcement agencies working with local assistance of the citizens. Crime Stoppers is based on the principle that “Someone other than the criminal has information that can solve a crime” and was created to combat the three major problems faced by law enforcement in generating that information: Fear of REPRISAL; an attitude of APATHY; and reluctance to get INVOLVED. LCS is a community program with a volunteer board of citizens who take a proactive role in involving the Laredo/Webb County citizens in the concept of continuing efforts to combat crime and maintain a safe community.
