This year, with funding from the Guru Krupa Foundation, Read to a Child focused on supporting our virtual program. This effort benefitted virtual reading pairs nationally, as we continue to offer a convenient way for volunteers who may not otherwise be able to be involved in their communities. The Guru Krupa Foundation supported both technology needs and helped with general costs of the virtual program, which are higher than in-person programming. President of the Guru Krupa Foundation, Mukund Padmanabhan, said, “GKF has been providing support for this program since its inception, and we are glad to continue the support this year to further improve the virtual component of the Read Aloud Mentoring Program.” Thank you to the Guru Krupa Foundation for this ongoing support! Thank you to the Read to a Child Greater Hartford supporters who attended our event April 30th! There were over 100 attendees, hosted by the nights honoree Shipman & Goodwin LLP. Our fabulous emcee was Mellaney Castro of the Office of the Governor; with John Motley, of Motley Consulting and veteran champion of children’s education, acting as auctioneer to raise vital support for the Read Aloud Mentoring Program in Hartford! Read to a Child was also honored to host Governor Ned Lamont and Hartford Mayor Aruban Arulampalam, both of whom gave remarks and showed tremendous support for the cause. With this event, we raised nearly $50,000 for the Read Aloud Mentoring Program in Greater Hartford!
