Mission: To empower girls and young women to have productive lives through holistic, gender-responsive programs, education and experiences.Gwen's Girls is one of the few agencies in the nation that offers a unique, gender-responsive comprehensive continuum of care for girls and young women - we are pioneers in this emerging field. We know the issues associated with girls are complex - even in the best of situations. However, most of the girls we currently serve live in neighborhoods that are marred with poverty, drugs, and violence. This population is at risk for poor outcomes due to abuse, neglect, involvement with the justice system, out-of-home placement, pregnancy, and poor academic performance. We have designed our programs and services to give girls the skills and supports they need to succeed and become self-sufficient and productive members of society. Through a comprehensive assessment, these life domains are then translated into an individualized ""pathway"" plan that is developed in partnership with each girl, her family, Gwen's Girls staff and other involved agencies. Each girl's needs-based screening and assessment will determine her comprehensive care model, including the intensity of services and which programs/services in our unique continuum of care will be provided. Gwen's Girls offers Prevention Services; Reunification Services; a Residential Program for delinquent and dependent girls with a specialty in pregnant and parenting girls; a Foster Care Program; School-Based services and Community-Based program; a summer c a Job Readiness Program that includes academic enrichment and tutoring, career guidance, and a job shadowing component; individual and family/group counseling; therapeutic groups; health and wellness workshops; life skills; and mentoring.
