May is Mental Health Awareness Month. Research from the World Health Organization suggests that Being a survivor of domestic violence is linked to increased risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression and self harming behaviors. Whether you are experiencing preexisting mental health challenges or those associated with the trauma of intimate partner violence, you deserve support. While our advocates are not therapists, our 24/7 free and confidential helpline is here for you. Advocates can help connect with with mental health resources in our community while supporting you along the way. If you are in crisis, the Maine Crisis line can be reached online or by texting 988. Mental health matters. Survivors deserve support. You are never alone. (fb)

We are keeping hope on the horizon for so many; will you help us by making a donation in honor of someone who gives you hope? Through These Doors has reached over 10,000 survivors of domestic abuse since 2020. There is a direct line between the safety, security, and peace felt by the survivors of Cumberland County and your generous support. We can’t thank you enough! In 2024, Through These Doors served 2,856 of your friends, family, and neighbors. We helped them through the court process, we helped them find and maintain housing during a housing crisis, we helped them heal in support groups, through helpline calls, and by standing beside them during tough moments. Every day since 1977, we’ve guided survivors of domestic abuse and violence to see hope on the horizon.💜 Many of us are living in uncertainty, navigating challenges, and seeking a better life for our families. At TTD, we are focused on our friends and neighbors who are the most vulnerable to these challenges and changes. 💜Visit the link tree in our bio to make a donation!💜 🌅Hope On the Horizon was donated to TTD by the artist, Jessica Kissell, with special permission to display this work. TTD is not distributing their work for profit. Through These Doors is a nonprofit organization, under IRS code section 501(c)3. Tax ID #01-0352636. No Goods and Services were exchanged for this gift. Thank you, Jessica, for letting us share your wonderful art with our supporters! (fb)
