Mission
The mission of YPI is to create a community among young musicians worldwide by providing high-quality instruction in music and the performing arts. The organization seeks to foster self-confidence, competence, fulfillment, and an open heart in every student.
History and Operations
Founded by Leela Pratt, YPI began as a summer program in 2000 and has expanded to serve multiple schools across three Bay Area counties. YPI specializes in teaching contemporary styles of guitar, bass, piano, drums, and vocals, with lessons tailored to each student's interests and skill level.
Programs
YPI offers a range of programs including music classes, lessons, and music camps. The organization believes that expressing oneself through the performing arts is a vital part of childhood and should be accessible to all. YPI's teaching approach is focused on engaging students in activities where they feel comfortable expressing themselves.
