Northern Kentucky Soccer Officials Association

The Northern Kentucky Soccer Officials Association (NKSOA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing officiating services for high schools in Campbell, Kenton, and Boone counties in Northern Kentucky. Established on April 30, 1984, as a subsidiary of the Northern Kentucky Soccer League, NKSOA later became an independent entity and was incorporated as a nonprofit corporation on January 5, 2000.

Purpose and Activities

NKSOA is responsible for managing and assigning soccer officials to school matches within its covered regions. It requires its members to register annually with both NKSOA and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA). Members must also attend educational clinics to maintain their status as officials in good standing.

Structure and Membership

The organization is part of the KHSAA's 9th Region. Members are expected to participate in various training sessions, including classroom training and on-field exercises. These sessions cover topics such as communication protocols, assistant referee mechanics, game management, and pre-game conferences.

As of current records, NKSOA's leadership includes a president and an assignor who oversee the operations and assignments of soccer officials within the region.

Financial Aspect

NKSOA charges membership dues, which vary based on the member's status. The organization also pays officials based on the type of match they officiate, with rates differing for varsity, junior varsity (JV), and freshman games.

Official Uniform and Equipment

NKSOA officials use a standardized uniform, which includes a safety green and black shirt with the KHSAA logo, black shorts, black shoes with white-striped socks, and black belts and caps if worn.
