Communities In Schools of Southeast Harris and Brazoria County is a combination of two 501(c)3 non profit organizations dedicated to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, graduate and prepare for life. Communities In Schools of Brazoria County (CIS) exists to help young people successfully learn, stay in school, graduate, and prepare for life. CIS programs are designed to improve the quality of life for economically disadvantaged youth by providing services that revolve primarily around education and are geared toward dropout prevention, high school graduation, classroom behavior and participation, higher classroom grades and testing scores. The CIS program is a multi-disciplinary prevention program that increases each at-risk student participant's opportunity to be successful in school by improving attendance, academic performance and behavior and increasing the stay in school rate (decreasing the dropout rate).

Our Mission Our mission is to surround students with a community of support empowering them to stay in school and achieve in life. Our Services CIS provides the following six components for all students Academic Support Tutoring STAAR support homework assistance study skills CollegeCareer Readiness Career fairs college field trips career counseling college nights dress for success Enrichment Activities Fine arts before and afterschool programs sports field trips leadership training STEM science technology engineering math activities HealthHuman Services Dentalhealth screenings Backpack Buddies personal hygiene school supplies safetyawareness life skills Parent Family Engagement Adult education family literacy parentfamily events home visits Supportive Guidance and Counseling Mentoring character education goal setting team building conflict resolution CIS Current Profile CIS Longest Roll Call Our Programs Traditional Program CIS offers during the day programs which partner with school districts educators parents and community partners to identify barriers to success and address the needs of students. Once the needs are identified CIS customizes support for students and families providing individual case management services while engaging the community as part of this process. CIS reviews individual academics behavior attendance and tracks education outcomes for all students served.
