Public newspapers The Corporation for Public Community Newspapers CPCN pioneered the concept of public newspapers in 1996 community news created collaboratively by local residents promoting the individual potential necessary for selfgovernance and civic life. CPCN has a long tradition of public service that includes operation of Western Montana39s awardwinning weekly community newspaper the Clark Fork Chronicle. CPCN currently supports six special projects Whole Community News Continuing since 2020 the community news initiative supports civic journalists tackling issues of interest in their Eugene Oregon neighborhoods. As part of this outreach we are partnering with neighborhoods and nonprofits to curate hyperlocal news contributions shared under a Creative Commons license and available to other news organizations.
