Severe geomagnetic storm underway as of 10:40 a.m. MDT Sunday, June 1st. The Kp index is up to 8. As mentioned in an earlier post, the coronal mass ejection (CME) arrived earlier than expected, and Aurora Borealis (a.k.a. Northern Lights) were seen overnight Saturday night as far south as Nebraska, Colorado, and California. (fb)
