The 1838 Philadelphia Black Metropolis is also a movement to reclaim rewrite and restore suppressed or forgotten Black Histories 01 RECLAIM Reclaim the geographic spaces of colonial and antebellum Philadelphia Black history through walking tours and events. What We Do 02 RESTORE Restore our collective knowledge of free Black history in Philadelphia through talks trainings and curriculum and museum education tools. 03 REWRITE Recenter the free Black population39s ongoing efforts for emancipation through disciplined historical research and writing.
