Sturtevant Camp – Founded 1893 Sturtevant Camp A Historic Welcome in the Wilderness Welcome to the Canyon the Camp is OPEN. In September 2020 the Bobcat Fire devastated the Big Santa Anita Canyon and surrounding mountains destroying parts of Sturtevant Camp and creating a hazardous environment that kept the Canyon and Camp closed until four years later in the fall of 2024. But then in January 2025 the Eaton Fire threatened the Canyon and Camp with disaster yet again. Luckily a combination of wind and hardworking fire crews kept the fire out of the Big Santa Anita and the Camp was untouched.
