🌏 May is Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month! 🌸 At Hello Neighbor, we’re proud to celebrate the rich cultural traditions and stories of our staff. This week, we asked team members from AANHPI backgrounds to share: 🔹 Their favorite dish from their culture or country 🔹 A local restaurant or business in Pittsburgh that reminds them of home Here’s what they told us: 🍛 Susan • Favorite food: Hyderabadi Dum Biryani (Chicken/Lamb) • Favorite local spot: Red Chilly’s – India’s Street Kitchen 🦀 Cecilia • Favorite food: Pangxie Chao Niangao – Stir-fried Crab with Rice Cakes • Favorite local spot: Nan Xiang Soup Dumplings 🦐 Asfi • Favorite food: Chingri (Shrimp) Malai Curry • Favorite local spot: Bengal Kabab House and Restaurant (Oakland) 🍽️ Urshita • Favorite food: Chole Bhature – Spicy Chickpea Curry with Fried Bread • Favorite local spot: Udipi Cafe (Monroeville) 💬 Food is more than a meal — it's a connection to identity, heritage, and home. 🏠 Many of these beloved restaurants are immigrant- or refugee-owned, helping preserve culture and build stronger communities. ✨ Let’s celebrate AANHPI Heritage Month by: ✅ Supporting local immigrant-owned businesses ✅ Sharing and learning from each other’s stories ✅ Embracing the vibrant diversity all around us #AANHPIHeritageMonth #HelloNeighbor #CelebrateCulture #ImmigrantOwned #PittsburghEats (fb)

Spring 2025 Intern Appreciation 🌟 From supporting families through resettlement, advocating for equitable health care, building community partnerships, and navigating complex legal pathways — our Spring 2025 Interns have made a meaningful and lasting impact at Hello Neighbor. We are incredibly grateful for the time, energy, and passion they’ve poured into serving our refugee and immigrant neighbors. Please join us in celebrating the contributions of: ✨ Niobe Tsoutsouris – Education & Community Empowerment (ECE) ✏️ ✨ Anna Pelleti – Intensive Case Management 🧩 ✨ Rodrigo Monteagudo – Employment 💼 ✨ Fadwa Alkanaan – GAPS Case Management 🧭 ✨ Isabella Alba – Legal 📚 ✨ Janae O’Connell – Resettlement & ECE 🧸 ✨ Layla Kaufman – National Network 🌍 ✨ Marissa Granite – Smart Start 👶 To each of you: thank you for choosing to spend your spring with us, for asking thoughtful questions, for stepping up when it mattered, and for believing in the power of community. 💛 We’re excited to follow your next chapters — and we hope you carry this experience forward with pride.
