URGENT AFRICA
Urgent Africa’s mission is to provide health services, education and support to widows and orphans, as well as working in cooperation with local people to build healthy, self-sufficient, sustainable communities. Additionally, Urgent Africa assists Djeli Mahamadou Kone and his large family in Mali since the coup d'etat and the jihadist fighting became prevalent in that country. In 2012-2013, all musicians were denied the ability to play music by the opposition or even have a musical ringer on their cell phones. To understand the story of Mali, one must understand the current turmoil and difficulties taking place in Mali. Life in Mali, West Africa, is no longer what it once was, where music and tourism echoed through the streets and reigned supreme.
