This featured article from URSUS, IBA’s peer-reviewed journal, has been selected by BioOne as part of their “Top & Trending Research in 2025” collection—a curated list of the most-read peer-reviewed articles in the field of ecology. We’re highlighting Coady et al.’s important work: “Denning ecology of an at-risk American black bear population in a unique habitat on the Bruce Peninsula, Ontario, Canada.” This study describes the first documented record of American black bears denning below ground in natural fissures within karst topography. It is crucial to understand population-specific denning habitat so we can inform conservation and management efforts. Swipe through to learn more, or head to the BioOne Digital Library to access the full article: https://doi.org/10.2192/URSUS-D-23-00017R1 IBA Members get full access to all URSUS articles.
