A Small ISP in Rural Northern California MCN is an Internet Service Provider owned and operated by the Mendocino Unified School District. Prevention of pet abuse, neglect, and over-population by providing temporary and permanent homes for abandoned cats and dogs and providing neutering and spaying services for these animals.

Redwood Coast Humane Society

The Redwood Coast Humane Society is a 100% volunteer-driven, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based on the Redwood Coast of Northern California. It serves the coastal area from Elk to Timber Cove.

Mission and Goals

The mission of the Redwood Coast Humane Society is to advocate for the welfare, rights, respect, and protection of all animals through care, intervention, and education. The organization focuses on several key goals:

  • Temporary Care and Adoption: Providing foster and medical care for animals that are surrendered, abandoned, injured, or rescued, with the aim of locating permanent homes for them through adoption programs.

History

The Redwood Coast Humane Society originated from the Mendocino Coast Humane Society, which was established in 1987 by concerned residents addressing feral cat overpopulation and the treatment of unwanted dogs and cats. In 2000, a separate nonprofit organization was formed by residents in Gualala and The Sea Ranch, leading to the establishment of the Redwood Coast Humane Society. The founding members included Jackie Gardener, Mary Moore, Lisa Scott, Carol McQuarrie, and Dagmar Moseley.

Operations

The organization operates a shelter where animals are cared for until they are adopted. It also collaborates with a network of local shelter partners to find homes for cats and dogs.
