Hearts for ALS NY We support people with ALS Lou Gehrigs Disease and their caregivers. Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis ALS often referred to as Lou Gehrigs Disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. While there is not a cure or treatment today that halts or reverses ALS there is significant research and clinical trials that are working to find a cause and a cure within our lifetime. ALS is a disease that can be experienced differently case by case so it is important to gain information and experiences unique for each individual in order to provide the best care.
