In early April, Bo Rogers, a Longview attorney, suffered a cardiac event and collapsed while working. Though he attempted to drive himself to the hospital, he soon had to stop and call 911. Within minutes, Longview Fire Department paramedics began life-saving interventions and transported him to the CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Emergency Room. There, our team worked tirelessly—administering multiple doses of epinephrine and nearly 20 defibrillator shocks as Bo coded for 48 minutes. Just as they were preparing to pronounce him, Emergency Medicine Specialist Dr. Tyler Straach offered a final prayer—and Bo's heart began to beat again. He was stabilized and taken to the cath lab for a cardiac procedure. Three weeks later, Bo returned to thank the very teams who helped give him a second chance. "I wanted to let them know how important they are not only to me, but every person they encounter," Bo said. "They are the agents of God, the hands and feet of our Lord."
