Today, we remember June 1st, 1921 — a date that forever changed the lives of Black Tulsans and left a deep scar in American history. It has been 104 years since the Greenwood District, once known as Black Wall Street, was devastated and an entire thriving community was reduced to ashes. Yet, through unimaginable pain and loss, the people of Greenwood showed the world what it means to rise — not just once, but again and again. They rebuilt, they resisted, and they passed down stories of strength and survival. Today, we honor their legacy. We acknowledge how far we’ve come — and how much further we still have to go. True justice means remembrance, restoration, and a continued commitment to equity and truth. We carry their stories. We amplify their voices. We build on their dreams! (fb)

May 30, 1921 – A Day We Must Never Forget As we mark the 104th Commemoration of the Tulsa Race Massacre, we pause to reflect, remember, and recommit ourselves to telling the full truth of our shared history. On this day in 1921, the life of Dick Rowland, a Black teenager and shoe shiner, was forever altered—his arrest sparked one of the deadliest acts of racial violence in American history. The thriving Black community of Greenwood, known as “Black Wall Street,” was devastated. Hundreds were killed. Thousands were displaced. An entire community's future was burned to the ground. And for far too long, this tragedy was hidden, erased, and ignored. Today, we honor the lives lost, the families broken, and the resilience that followed. We speak their names. We share their stories. We walk a path of truth, healing, and hope—not just for ourselves, but for future generations. History must be remembered—not rewritten. Let us choose to remember, to teach, and to build a future where justice is more than a dream, and hope is a right passed down, not a privilege fought for. #Tulsa1921 #NeverForget #BlackWallStreet #TruthTelling #HopeForTheFuture #rememberanceweekend (fb)
