The MAP Fund invests in performing artists and their work as the critical foundation of imagining and co-creating a more equitable and vibrant society. The MAP Fund offers artists time, space, and resources to explore and develop their ideas through project grants, individualized coaching and peer gatherings, and artist-directed microgrants. MAP invests in performing artists, many from underrepresented communities, at every stage of their practices and career. Since 1989, MAP has championed cultural equity and formal innovation in performance practices with more than $36 million. MAP-funded works have profoundly shifted public perceptions on often polarizing issues like racism, immigration, incarceration, LGBTQ+ justice, and the climate crisis. Over three decades, thousands of artists have received grants and strategic support to realize their multifaceted and often groundbreaking work.
