On Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 6:00 PM, Arts Every Day will host the Opening Reception for Courting Art Baltimore at Baltimore Unity Hall, celebrating the 9th anniversary of this transformative program. The event will showcase the incredible artistic talents of Baltimore City high school students and highlight their work as part of an ongoing effort to support youth creativity while enhancing the city’s legal spaces. Courting Art Baltimore provides an extraordinary opportunity for local high school students to exhibit their creative ingenuity, earn college scholarships, and foster connections between the legal community and Baltimore’s diverse neighborhoods. The program is committed to reducing stress and anxiety for individuals visiting courthouses by bringing beauty and artistic expression into these spaces. Since its inception in 2016, Courting Art Baltimore has awarded over $150,000 in scholarships to deserving students. This year’s event features 139 student artworks, which will be reviewed by a panel of jurors comprising local arts and culture experts, as well as representatives from law offices across the region. The selected students will be awarded scholarships based on creativity, originality, and artistic merit demonstrated in their works at the Awards Reception on Tuesday, May 13th at 6 PM at the Eastside District Courthouse (1400 E North Ave). Two top non-senior student artists will also receive placements at Maryland Institute College of Art’s (MICA) Young People’s Studio. This invaluable experience will allow students to further hone their artistic skills through MICA’s summer or fall art programs, to pave the way for future success in the arts. As the program marks nearly a decade of success, the opening reception will provide a unique opportunity to view the student artworks, meet the artists, and celebrate their achievements. It is a testament to the incredible talent and perseverance of Baltimore’s youth, as well as the collaboration between the legal and arts communities. Event Details: ● Date: Thursday, April 10, 2025 ● Time: 6:00 to 7:30 PM ● Location: Baltimore Unity Hall, 1505 Eutaw Place, Baltimore, MD 21217 (fb)
