This land remembers. At Hi Ute Ranch, history and habitat meet in the open. A longtime part of Park City’s ranching heritage, it's a place where we’re lucky to be the next stewards of this landscape that’s so emblematic of the American West. Much of the grass here is long and layered—buried beneath a canopy of dry thatch. That buildup blocks light, smothers new growth, and signals something deeper: the absence of the animals that once shaped this land. Regeneration is about mimicking natural processes, bringing something vital back: movement, grazing, the churning of soil beneath hooves. Once, herds of buffalo, deer, and other native grazers kept grasses healthy and soils alive. We are looking through a new lens at this beloved land. A lens that sees a regenerative grazing partnership with 3 Springs Land & Livestock as a key component to mimicking nature with a goal of nurturing, sustaining and encouraging resilience. Because protection isn’t the finish line. It’s where stewardship begins. #HiUteRanch #ConservationInAction #LandStewardship #RegenerativeGrazing #UtahOpenLands (fb)

Yesterday, our team was hard at work on the land we’re proud to protect—and one of our missions? Removing Myrtle Spurge, a deceptively pretty plant with a not-so-pretty impact. Originally planted as an ornamental groundcover, Myrtle Spurge has escaped gardens and is now a noxious weed in Utah, spreading fast across hillsides and wild spaces. It’s toxic to humans and animals, and its aggressive growth threatens the native plants and wildlife that call these lands home. Spurge removal is tedious, careful work (gloves are a must)—and it’s essential to protecting the open spaces we love. This is what stewardship looks like in action: boots on the ground, hands in the dirt, and a whole lot of commitment to keeping Utah wild. #MyrtleSpurge #InvasiveSpecies #NoxiousWeeds #LandStewardship #ProtectOpenSpace #UtahConservation #HiUteRanch #StewardshipInAction #WeedWarriors #PreservingTheFuture #UtahOpenLands (fb)
