In the aftermath of hurricanes Helene and Milton, communities across the Southeast are facing unprecedented challenges. One organization at the forefront of relief efforts is Team Rubicon, a veteran-led humanitarian group dedicated to serving those in need during disasters and crises. Their mission is to serve global communities before, during, and after disasters and crises, leveraging the skills and experiences of military veterans and first responders. -Veterans Serving Communities- Team Rubicon’s volunteers, known as “Greyshirts,” are predominantly military veterans who bring their unique skills and dedication to disaster response. These individuals are trained to handle high-pressure situations, making them exceptionally effective in crisis environments. -Hurricane Helene Relief Efforts- In response to Hurricane Helene, Team Rubicon launched extensive disaster relief operations across multiple states. On September 27, 2024, Route Clearance Teams began removing hurricane debris from roadways in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Their efforts have been crucial in restoring access and safety to affected communities. -Making a Tangible Impact- Beyond immediate disaster response, Team Rubicon is committed to long-term recovery. Their operations include muck-outs, chainsaw work, flood mitigation, debris removal, roof tarping, and heavy equipment operations.
