Friends of Green Chimneys
Nurturing connections with families, the community, animals and nature. The Friends of Green Chimneys raises money through direct solicitation of grants from foundations, corporations and individuals; fundraising events including a golf outing and a gala dinner; and an annual appeal. Green Chimneys is a not-for-profit organization helping young people ages 3-21 to maximize their full potential by providing residential, educational, clinical and recreational services that create and nurture connections to the community and the natural world. Founded in 1947 and headquartered on a the farm and wildlife center for more than 300 animals and birds in Brewster, NY, Green Chimneys has become nationally and internationally recognized as offering an extremely effective solution for healing and improving the life of some of the most troubled, traumatized and emotionally, socially, behaviorally and mentally challenged children and families. Green Chimneys services include an accredited special education school, residential treatment center, animal-assisted and nature-based therapeutic programs, public education and recreation programs, community based support for underserved youth and families, and Clearpool Environmental Center. The Friends of Green Chimneys, incorporated as its own non-profit in 1996, was established exclusively to raise funds for Green Chimneys programs.

Make the most of these last days of summer with a hike at Green Chimneys Clearpool campus. Over 5 miles of beautiful trails winding along the lake or climbing the hilltops offer a perfect way to recharge before diving into the new school year. Trails are open weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 8am-4pm.
