Come hear Len Sharp, a former presidental awardee in science teaching, at our two day show on Sunday July 13th. All speaker presentations are free with show admission. National Parks: Sustaining America’s Natural Wonders Consider the National Park Service’s (NPS) mission statement: “Preserve unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations.” This includes the conservation of our national heritage sites, both natural and cultural from excessive overuse by vandalism, urban encroachment, lack of understanding of the awesome processes of weathering and erosion, biologic development over time, as well as the necessary funding to maintain the pristine and natural splendor of our nearly 433 sites (63 national parks) under the auspices of the National Park Service. This discussion will attempt to survey several prominent national parks and the challenges they may be experiencing plus possible solutions, if adequate funding and staffing is provided. ***** Franklin D.
