A key step on the journey to becoming a foster parent in Massachusetts is attending the required pre-service training, the Massachusetts Approach to Partnerships in Parenting, also known as MAPP. MAPP allows prospective foster parents to consider the commitment of foster care on a deep and personal level through a series of discussion based classes. For young clients like Devi, age 17 and part of Ascentria’s foster care program, our new headquarters represents more than just a building, it’s a lifeline. Unlike in our current building, our new headquarters will offer Devi and his Ascentria team the space to sit down and work on things like job and college applications, and create private space for him to have sessions with our on-staff clinician, if he ever needs it. As Devi works through the challenges of navigating everything from school to his first job, he won’t be alone, especially as Ascentria builds new partnerships with our new neighbors.
