THE LITERACY CHALLENGE Low literacy impacts every part of a persons life. It contributes to the equity gap our communities face as well as intergenerational cycles of poverty. Some of the literacy challenges we face are More than 43 million adults in the United States read write or do basic math at a thirdgrade level. 82 of children whose parents have no high school diploma are likely to live in poverty.
