Asylum Arts Inc

Three years ago, Asylum Arts found a new home at The Neighborhood: An Urban Center for Jewish Life. Every month, The Neighborhood offers inventive Jewish community and cultural programming, many of them under the Asylum Arts umbrella and continued programming, such as our Small Grants program, the Artist Working Groups and the Peleh Residency. Participants of our programs also have the opportunity to continue creating Jewish art and culture with The Neighborhood for our growing community, like the "Electric Mimouna" by Music Artist Working Group participants Chanan Ben-Simon and Guy Barash pictured here.

Asylum Artist Melanie Catan's play "Ida, the Mother of the Internet" will be performed at Teatro La Alianza in Montevideo, Uruguay from June 28 to July 12. This live music theatre piece is intended for people of all ages, and tells the story of a young girl's exploration of the life of Ida Holz, a groundbreaking Uruguayan pioneer who shows her how the Internet first arrived in the country. A tribute to the women who paved the way in technology, this play is an invitation for children to see themselves as protagonists of change.
