4 things you WILL encounter on the trail this spring (and how to prepare for them!): #1 – Mud: After snow has melted, it can take a while for trails to dry out, especially up high! 👍 Solutions: Hike lower elevation trails that dry out faster, wear waterproof boots, and consider gaiters, which help keep mud and water out of your shoes. 🥾 #2 – Bugs: Black flies 🪰 are out this time of year, along with other biting insects like mosquitos 🦟 and ticks. 👍 Solutions: Wear bug spray, long sleeves and pants, and bring a bug net to keep flying insects away from your face. #3 – Changing weather: Some days feel like summer ☀️ and others... don't. The higher you climb, the cooler temps will get. 👍 Solutions: Wear and bring layers, and always bring waterproof outerwear even if the forecast doesn't call for rain. Keep a close eye on the weather.
