Our team is made for more than providing loving care to our patients – they preserve precious memories. Recently, we heard from a patient’s family that their loved one had lost her jewelry during her hospital stay at Adventist Health Sonora. They feared it had been placed in a disposable cup and mistakenly thrown away. An initial search was fruitless, but the nurses who cared for the patient were undeterred. ICU Manager Jessica Sheline reached out to hospital leadership and asked, would it be possible to search the trash? With the help of Facilities Director Evan Kalas, Jessica and her team fished dozens of bags of trash out of the hospital’s dumpster, picking through each one until, at last, they found the patient’s jewelry, including her wedding ring, which will one day be passed down to her granddaughter.
