Art on a Mission Performing Arts Workshop is a Bay Area BIPOCled nonprofit organization established in 1965 to equalize access to arts and arts education and help young people develop critical thinking creative expression socioemotional learning media literacy and essential life skills. Bay Area Youth Art Programs Performing Arts Workshop works with over 2000 students in Title I schools transitional housing facilities juvenile halls and afterschool programs via our partnership model that places one to two Teaching Artists for sites that are understaffed per classroom to engage youth through music dance writing theater spoken word poetry mixed media and visualmedia arts.
