Durham Historical Society

The Durham Historical Society is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization located in Durham, Pennsylvania. It is dedicated to the study and preservation of the history of Durham Township, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

Mission

The Society focuses on documenting and preserving the local history, which includes early European colonial settlement, industrial enterprises such as iron furnaces and mills, and agricultural practices. Activities

The Durham Historical Society hosts regular meetings, typically on the fourth Tuesday of each month. These meetings often feature special speaker presentations on historical topics, especially in the Durham Mill, although activities have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mill Restoration Fund

One of the Society's notable projects is the restoration of the Durham Gristmill. In collaboration with Durham Township, the Society aims to renovate the mill to demonstrate the milling of locally grown grains and to ensure it is suitable for educational purposes. Contributions to this effort are welcomed and support the maintenance of the structure as a historical and educational resource.
