Media for Development International, Inc.
MFDI works to produce and distribute social message films and videos, as well as radio and TV programming. Since the 1980s it has done quite a bit of work with its sister agency, Media for Development Trust, (MFD) in Zimbabwe. Some of our best known works are the videos: Consequences, Neria, More Time, Everyone's Child, and Yellow Card; and the 104 episode Zimbabwean Mopani Junction radio serial drama, and the ongoing weekly Swahili-language radio serial drama in Tanzania called Wahapahapa which is also accompanied with music videos, web sites, and motion picture media. In 2004 MFDI opened a Tanzanian office in Dar es Salaam, Media for Development International / Tanzania (MFDI/Tz). That office moved to Arusha, Tanzania at the end of 2016. MFDI has produced many TV and radio soap operas and cinema hall movies in Tanzania, as well as accompanying media materials.
