Public lands are the heart and soul of America; a fundamental part of our nation’s legacy. They are places where we find inspiration, recreation, happiness, joy, challenge, reflection, pride, and renewal. Places that tell and educate us about the stories of America. The Public Lands Conservancy is dedicated to preserving, protecting, and appropriately managing public lands and waters. This is accomplished by educating the American public about the value of public-owned areas administered by local, state and federal governments. The Public Lands Conservancy (PLC) is a non-profit corporation.

"House Republicans added a provision to their sweeping tax cut package authorizing sales of hundreds of thousands of acres of public lands in Nevada and Utah, prompting outrage from Democrats and environmentalists who called it a betrayal that could lead to drilling, mining and logging in sensitive areas. Republicans on the House Natural Resources Committee adopted the land sales proposal early Wednesday morning. The initial draft had not included it amid bipartisan opposition.

The son of a ranger, the 84-year-old was raised inside Mesa Verde national park in Colorado and went on to have a long career in the agency, eventually serving as supervisor at Shenandoah national park in Virginia. Now retired, Wade serves as the executive director of the Association of National Park Rangers, which makes him an excellent ear to have on the ground.
