We are thrilled to announce that The New York State Senate will honor Alisa McMorris (AndrewMcMorrisFoundation.org) Co-President of the Andrew McMorris foundation and advisory board member of MADD NY NJ PA as a 2025 Woman of Distinction. The award honors women who have made outstanding contributions to their local communities; each senator selects an honoree. State Sen. Dean Murray has selected McMorris for her efforts to end drunk, drugged and impaired driving in honor of her 12 year old son Andrew McMorris who was killed by a drunk driver while hiking with Scout Troop 161 on September 30th 2018. Alisa and her family have dedicated their lives to ending this 100% preventable crime from happening to anyone else. Alisa and her husband John have chosen to put their pain to purpose and parent Andrew’s legacy by speaking to high school students attending press conferences and introducing legislation such as Andrew’s law to create stricter laws in New York State because our choices have consequences.
