The 2nd U S Cavalrys long gallant and dedicated service to the United States of America no matter what mission they were asked to perform. In the Montana territory and later in the early days of Montana statehood where they earned the name Montanas Cavalry. In the spring of 1869 three companies were sent to Montana.
