SOW Generously is a nonprofit whose mission is to help students in rural South Georgia who, because of a lack of education funding and geographic isolation, are often left behind and deprived of the educational opportunities that are available to students residing in metropolitan areas. We bring awareness to the educational barriers facing rural South Georgia students. We also showcase the racial and ethnic diversity in small town and rural communities like those in South Georgia, where Black and Hispanic youth make up a large percentage of rural student populations. Indeed, while rural students of color are often left out of academic and public discussions, youth across different backgrounds contribute to the vibrancy and uniqueness of rural communities, and the future of rural America.
