Snapshots of Pride opens this Friday, May 30! This exhibit will explore historical events in the South Bay LGBTQ+ community from the 1970s to 1980s through the lens of photojournalist Ted Sahl. In 1978, Sahl unexpectedly found himself at the center of a San Jose City Hall dispute between San Jose gay rights activists and members of the Moral Majority. His recording of this event sparked a decades-long interest and dedication to chronicling the LGBTQ+ politics, people, and movements in the South Bay. Snapshots of Pride will combine biography, local history, and photography. On view May 30-Oct 5. Celebrate the opening with a custom cocktail, small bites, a live performance by the Rainbow Women’s Chorus and Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus, and a hands-on art activity at our opening reception, Sun, June 1, 5-7 PM, free with registration.
