Fighting for justice for trans, gender variant & intersex people in California prisons, jails, detention centers and beyond. The TGI Justice Project's (TGIJP) mission is to challenge and end the human rights abuses committed against transgender, gender variant and intersex (TGI) people in California prisons and beyond. Lee TGIJP Black Trans Cultural Center is a group of transgender, gender variant and intersex (TGI) people inside and outside of prisons, jails and detention centers creating a united family in the struggle for survival and freedom. We work in collaboration with others to forge a culture of resistance and resilience to strengthen us for the fight against human rights abuses, imprisonment, police violence, racism, poverty and societal pressures. Our members are no to low-income Black and Black and Brown TGI people and our families who are in prison, formerly incarcerated, or targeted by the police; advocating for them during incarceration and through the re-entry process.
