This is accomplished through education, research and service.Angel Light Academy is a caring resource for people of all ages who seek to change their lives. We recognize the strengths in others and build on those strengths. The organization provides opportunities to learn new skills, to build confidence and for individuals to grow and be the best they can be. Through training, mentoring and nurturing, ALA creates inspiring leaders who provide exceptional service to others and their communities. The reputation and success of this training organization have resulted in trusted relationships with teachers, school districts and community professionals resulting in increased requests for all of our programs.Youth Programs ALA's experience is that children who participate in the “Hope for the Future" training programs show significant personal growth, an increase in self-esteem, confidence and problem solving skills. With ALA's skilled guidance, each child has a stronger commitment to community service, and experiences an overall increase in their ability to make a difference in the quality of their lives, the lives of their families and lives of their friends. This intense 2-day leadership program teaches leadership traits, communication skills, problem solving, teamwork, and community service. Students spend two days with highly trained and qualified facilitators experiencing leadership in such a way that they can take the learning and apply it to real-life situations. The use of skits, games, and workbooks keep students engaged with the learning. Students learn to solve their everyday problems, build self-confidence, and learn to become role-models for their friends and families. They identify and solve real-life school, community and personal problems that they face. Students create action plans that are safe, doable and can be enacted upon leaving the conference. The conference has traditionally been used as a “Kick-Off" to year-round leadership programming but may also be used as a culminating event. Those students involved in the 6-week or 36-week leadership programs assist in presentation and facilitation of the conference material, increasing their learning and giving them a chance to apply what they've learnedVolunteers develop and facilitate leadership programs for youth of all ages who are from diverse ethnic, socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. These extensively trained volunteers use role play, games, theater, art, and sports to develop the innate leadership and problem solving skills of youth, the majority of whom are at-risk. For example, students identify problems, write skits about the problems and possible solutions and consequences, direct and produce the skits onstage behind cameras and microphones before audiences of up to 150 youth and adults. These Junior Leaders also have the experience being interviewed by local TV and radio stations. Every six weeks, extensive mandatory training to evaluate community programs occurs with the Junior Leaders to guarantee quality control.Trained youth and adults are conducting an Alzheimer's Music and Memory Program.
