BREAKING: After 60 Years, Gary Job Corps Will Suspend Program Operations Next Month Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Labor announced the closure of scores of Job Corps centers across the country, including the nation's largest location just outside San Marcos. Gary Job Corps, founded in 1965, furnishes no-cost education and career technical training to many hundreds of young people each year. The Trump administration's press release states "The Department will arrange transportation and cover costs to transfer students back to their homes of record by June 30, 2025."
