These rows of Willow Oaks (Quercus phellos) were planted in the late 1960's as a landscaped shaded walkway to the former Kirwan Blanding dormitories on the University of Kentucky campus. One row leads from the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Hilltop Avenue, while a longer row runs from the intersection of Huguelet Drive and University Drive. Learn more about this species by visiting our website for May's Tree of the Month post! www.treeslexington.org/tree-of-the-month #TreesLexington #TreeOfTheMonth #WillowOak #latepost (fb)

Head to our blog to read an article on these fascinating insects by Trees Lexington Board Member Andy Mead, and we'd love to know - what's your experience with Brood XIV been like? Comments, photos, and tags welcome on our website or here! Link in comments! #TreesLexington #17YearCicadas #BroodXIV #BourbonBrood Image by AshleeMarie from Pixabay (fb)
