Washington Women in Trades Association

Home | WWIT

A Seattle based non-profit for nearly 40 years. We Educate, Promote and Celebrate. We Facilitate Access for Women in the Skilled Trades. Washington Women in Trades Assoc (WAWITA) was founded in 1978 with a mission to increase and retain the dwindling numbers of women seeking and obtaining opportunities in high wage, high skill, non-traditional building and construction trades via education, outreach, recruitment, retention, support, mentoring, and success acknowledgment. To achieve our mission WAWITA directly hosts and/or participates in events, public forums, symposiums, K-12 career days, trades and career fairs. WAWITA produces publications that celebrate the lives and legacies of our Rosie foremothers, provides support and mentorship to current and aspiring tradeswomen, connects employers with work ready women and annually celebrates the accomplishment and successes of tradeswomen.
