EFM has been reshaping the environment of Marin since our founding in 1972. We are focused on providing Marin residents #education4action: teaching about complex environmental issues and training them in the skills to take effective action. Environmental Forum of Marin (EFM) was founded in 1972 by Dr. Martin Griffin to train Marin County residents to testify before local legislative bodies on the environmental consequences of proposed developments on the Marin/Sonoma Coast. EFM became recognized for the scientific depth of its programs and its objectivity in presenting environmental issues, so even after the coast was “saved,” its work continued. Its mission is to promote a sustainable world by providing environmental education for its members and the public. EFM understands that climate change is a greater threat to the environment than development ever was and believes that Bay Area residents (and beyond!) need to understand the issues and advocate for solutions.
